The Goal of War: The Distant Lights of Peace

In the midst of a war, the soldiers’ eyes had grown blind to reason. Everyone was lined up to kill each other, when suddenly, a light appeared in the distance. As the soldiers looked around in confusion, a general stepped forward and said, “Hey, stop! That light is a sign of peace. Lay down your weapons and walk towards it.” The soldiers, bewildered, listened to the general’s words and began to walk towards peace, leaving their weapons behind. However, unfortunately, that light was only the glow from a fire caused by an explosion, and the soldiers were unknowingly walking straight into the heart of the war. As a result, the thin line between “the distant lights of peace” and the harsh reality of war proved to be far too difficult to see.
