Manga Pandemic Web Exhibition 2025 – “Pandemic & Peace”

The Kyoto Seika University International Manga Research Center has announced the 6th edition of the Manga Pandemic Web Exhibition.

This project, which started in 2020, uses the expressive power of manga to document how humanity faces global challenges. It serves as both an online gallery and a historical database of our times.

1. Competition Themes

Participants are invited to create works based on one of the following themes:

  • Pandemic: Reflecting on life, changes, and society in the wake of COVID-19.
  • Peace: Defined not just as the “absence of war,” but the absence of “violence” (poverty, discrimination, environmental destruction, etc.).
  • Pandemic + Peace: A combination of both concepts.

2. Submission Guidelines

  • Exclusivity: Works must be new and unpublished, created specifically during the application period.
  • Quantity: You may submit up to 10 works per person or group.
  • Format: * File type: JPEG (Max 5MB).
    • Resolution: At least 2000 pixels on the longest side.
    • Language: English or Japanese (The organizers will provide translations for the exhibition).
  • Eligibility: Open to everyone worldwide—professionals, amateurs, and students of all ages.

3. Key Dates & Deadlines

  • Submission Deadline: February 28, 2026 (Saturday)
  • Exhibition Period: Ongoing online, showcasing the “manga fever” of contributors globally.

4. How to Apply

Submissions are accepted via email. Please send your artwork to:

In the body of your email, you must include:

  1. Chosen Theme: (Pandemic / Peace / Both)
  2. Name: (Pen names are allowed, please include Roman alphabet notation)
  3. Title of Work: (In English and/or Japanese)
  4. Nationality
  5. Date of Production
  6. Contact Info: (Email address and phone number)

5. Important Notes

  • Exhibition Advisors: The project features renowned advisors, including manga artist Shiriagari Kotobuki and illustrator Anzai Hajime.
  • Not-for-Profit: There is no monetary reward, but your work will be part of a global archive and used for the promotion of manga culture.
  • Copyright: Creators retain copyright, but the organizers may use images for publicity and future exhibitions.
