Nescafe and Boredom: The Secret Enemy of Newlyweds
“The first few months of marriage are supposed to be like a fairytale, right? Everything is rosy, every moment is unforgettable… Of course, this is only the case in the movies! In real life, newlyweds can also find themselves bored out of their minds, just like the couple in our cartoon, sipping on a cup of Nescafe in the kitchen.
‘Why are they so bored?’ you might ask. Let’s try to find the answer to this question together. First of all, housework is anything but romantic. Washing dishes, sweeping, ironing… Yes, yes, I can hear you rolling your eyes right now. Secondly, cooking isn’t always fun. Especially when you have to repeat the same menu every day. Thirdly and most importantly, after a while, you start to know each other very well and you can’t find anything new to say to each other.
What to do in this situation? Here are a few suggestions:
- Take up new hobbies: How about painting, dancing, or playing an instrument together?
- Explore new places: Visit a museum you’ve never been to before in your city or take a weekend getaway.
- Spend time with your friends: Go out to dinner with them or throw a party.
- Read books together: You can get to know each other better by reading the same book and then discussing it.
Remember, marriage is not a marathon, it’s a journey. Sometimes you’ll get bored on this journey, and sometimes you’ll have a lot of fun. The important thing is to get through this together and make an effort to strengthen your relationship.
