Join the 1st Geodesy Cartoon Competition – Austria 2026!

Are you ready to blend science with humor? The International Association of Geodesy (IAG) and its Global Geodetic Observing System (GGOS) have announced a unique creative challenge: The first Geodesy Cartoon Competition 2026!

Whether you are a professional artist, a scientist with a funny bone, or a student who loves to doodle, this is your chance to shine. The goal is simple: make complex geodetic concepts accessible and fun through the power of visual storytelling.

Competition Themes & Categories

Participants can submit their work in three main categories:

  1. Geodesy Explaining Cartoons: Helping the world understand what geodesy actually is.
  2. Geodetic Observation Techniques: Humor centered around tools like satellites, VLBI, or SLR.
  3. Geodetic Products: Cartoons focusing on the data we use every day (like GPS or reference frames).

Key Rules to Remember

  • Deadline: March 22, 2026.
  • Format: White background, JPG or PNG, minimum 4000×4000 pixels.
  • No Text Inside: Keep the cartoon image text-free. Your title and subtext go into the submission form.
  • AI Policy: AI-generated cartoons are welcome but must be declared for the AI Recognition Award.
