Call for Entries: XXXIII Risto Pejatović International Cartoon Contest 2026

Are you ready to sharpen your pencils and your wit? The XXXIII International Cartoon Contest “Risto Pejatović” 2026 has officially opened its doors for submissions! Hosted in the historic town of Pljevlja, Montenegro, this competition is a cornerstone of the famous “Vuko Bezarević” Days of Humor and Satire.

The Theme: Mining

This year, the contest digs deep into the theme of Mining. Whether you choose to explore the environmental impact of extraction, the historical grit of coal mines, or the modern-day rush for digital gold and data mining, the jury is looking for sharp, socially engaged, and satirical reflections on what it means to “mine” in the 21st century.

Why You Should Participate

Caricature is more than just a drawing; it’s a critical mirror to society. This contest continues a long-standing tradition of promoting caricature as a powerful form of visual expression. Plus, with a total prize pool of 1,400 €, your talent could be rewarded in more ways than one.

Essential Contest Details

  • Submission Period: 17 February – 31 May 2026
  • Number of Submissions: Up to 5 works per artist.
  • Technique: Original works or high-quality digital prints (300 dpi, JPG).
  • Theme: Mining (Social, economic, or environmental perspectives).

Awards and Recognition

  • Grand Prix: 800 € and the prestigious Risto Pejatović Trophy.
  • Special Awards: Two plaques with 300 € each.

How to Enter

You can submit your work digitally via email to galerijapv@gmail.com or send physical copies to the PI Art Gallery “Vitomir Srbljanovic” in Pljevlja, Montenegro. Don’t forget to sign your work!

The awards ceremony will be a highlight of the central ceremony of the Days of Humor and Satire “Vuko Bezarevic” in Pljevlja.
