Former Cartoon Art Museum Curator Andrew Farago Arrested

Andrew Farago, a comics historian and writer who spent many years working with San Francisco’s Cartoon Art Museum, has been arrested following allegations that he secretly recorded guests in a bathroom during a private gathering.

According to a report published by The Berkeley Scanner, the incident took place during a birthday party held at Farago’s Berkeley home on May 23, 2026.

According to information contained in court documents, a guest at the event discovered a hidden mobile phone in a bathroom. The matter was subsequently reported to police, leading to an investigation.

The report further states that the guest confronted Farago after finding the device, and that Farago admitted to the act.

Farago is the author of numerous books and articles on comics and animation history and has been associated with the Cartoon Art Museum for approximately 25 years. Reports indicate that he resigned from the museum following his arrest and that his name no longer appears on the institution’s website.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no final court ruling has been issued. The allegations have not been adjudicated in court and remain subject to the legal process.
