Pastel artists from around the world are invited to enter the 28th Annual Pastel 100 Art Competition, presented by Pastel Journal and Artists Network. Recognized as one of the most prestigious competitions dedicated exclusively to pastel art, the event offers artists the opportunity to gain international recognition, win cash prizes, and have their work published in a leading art magazine.
The competition welcomes entries in five subject-based categories:
- Animal + Wildlife
- Abstract + Non-Objective
- Landscape + Interior
- Portrait + Figure
- Still Life + Floral
Eligible works must be created primarily in soft pastel, with at least 80% of the artwork executed in the medium. Oil pastel entries are not accepted. Organizers also prohibit AI-generated artwork or AI-generated reference images, emphasizing originality and artistic authenticity.
International Eligibility
The competition is open to artists worldwide who are at least 18 years old and have reached the age of majority in their country or jurisdiction. All submitted artworks must be original creations by the entrant.
The Pastel 100 competition provides a unique platform specifically tailored to pastel artists, allowing both emerging and established creators to showcase their work before a global audience of collectors, editors, art enthusiasts, and industry professionals.
Awards and Recognition
A total of five major awards will be presented:
- Pastel Journal Founder’s Award (in memory of Maggie Price) – $3,000
- Pastel Journal Award of Excellence – $2,000
- Gold Award – $1,500
- Silver Award – $1,000
- Bronze Award – $750
In addition, the competition will recognize artists through 25 category awards and 70 honorable mentions. Winners will also receive premium art materials from sponsors and publication opportunities in Pastel Journal. Major award recipients will receive a one-year Artists Network membership.
Entry Fees and Deadline
The final entry deadline is August 26, 2026.
Final deadline entry fees are:
- Artists Network Members: $30 per image
- Non-Members: $40 per image
Entries must be submitted online, and fees are payable by credit card or PayPal.
