Upcoming Cartoon Museum Late Event Rounds Off “Heroes” Exhibition in Style
The Cartoon Museum in London is set to close its long-running “Heroes” exhibition with a special Cartoon Museum Late event on Thursday, October 17, 2024. This night promises an immersive experience for comic fans with a superhero-themed panel featuring renowned creators Shane Melisse, Claire Mead, and the legendary Dave Gibbons.
Attendees can enjoy exclusive access to HEROES: The British Invasion of American Comics, an exhibition that highlights the significant impact of British artists and writers on American superhero comics. This show delves into the influence of British creatives on iconic American characters, such as those in Watchmen and V for Vendetta, reflecting the dynamic exchange of comic culture between the two countries.
The panel lineup includes:
- Dave Gibbons, celebrated for his work on Watchmen, Kingsman: The Secret Service, and Dan Dare. His latest book, Confabulation: An Anecdotal Autobiography, will be available for purchase with a special discount on the night.
- Shane Melisse, a London-based artist known for his ongoing Road Knight series, which blends streetwear with fantasy, creating a gritty yet humorous depiction of modern life.
- Claire Mead, a writer, illustrator, and creator of the webcomic Girls’ School of Knighthood, who brings a queer and feminist perspective to her exploration of historical arms and armor.
Attendees can also enjoy themed Bird & Blend cocktails, including “Vampires Blood” and “Cherry Cola Bottles,” as well as hot teas and mocktails for those preferring non-alcoholic options.
