Call for Entries: 8th Hilden Cartoon Competition 2026 – Hilden, Germany

The prestigious international cartoon platform, “Hilden Cartoon… the eight”, is officially open for submissions! Hosted in the heart of Hilden, Germany, this annual event continues to be a vital stage for classic cartooning, inviting artists from around the globe to showcase their wit and craftsmanship.

• Exhibition Opening: July 4, 2026 (4:00 PM)
• Exhibition Duration: July 4 – July 19, 2026

Submission Guidelines

The competition focuses strictly on the art of the classic cartoon. Please take note of the following requirements:

• Style: Only classic cartoons are accepted. No comic strips or series.
• Quantity: Each illustrator may submit up to two works.
• Format: Do not send originals. Submissions should be scans or high-quality prints in DIN A4 format (Maximum size: 24 x 30 cm).
• Identification: All files must carry the artist’s name. It is highly recommended to include a short biography (vita) and a portrait photo with your application.

Prizes and Recognition

The jury will evaluate the entries following the deadline, with the following rewards:

• First Prize: €500 cash award.
• Exhibition: Selected works will be displayed at the Haus Hildener Künstler, a dedicated artist’s house located in the central city park of Hilden.
• Publication: Inclusion in the official exhibition catalog and promotional posters.
• Grand Opening: A festive ceremony held under the patronage of the Mayor of Hilden.

Legal Note: By submitting your work, you automatically grant consent for your cartoons to be used in posters, catalogs, and promotional materials (buttons, etc.) related to the exhibition.
