Art on Climate International Illustration Competition 2026 Opens for Global Entries

The Art on Climate International Illustration Competition 2026 has officially opened its call for entries, inviting illustrators and animated video creators from around the world to share their creative visions on one of the most pressing challenges of our time: climate change.

Organised by Fingertips Company Limited and sponsored by Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI), the competition aims to transform complex environmental and sustainability issues into powerful visual narratives that can inspire action and encourage public engagement.

Since its launch in Spain in 2019, Art on Climate has grown into a major international platform for environmental creativity. Over the past seven years, the initiative has attracted thousands of artists from around the world. In 2025 alone, more than 3,500 artworks and videos were submitted by over 2,600 creators representing 100 different locations worldwide.

Climate Change Through the Eyes of Artists

Participants are invited to create original works exploring the broad theme of climate change. The organisers encourage artists to draw inspiration from five key areas:

  • Driving the Climate Transition for Resilient Communities
  • Respecting Planetary Boundaries to Protect Biodiversity
  • Fostering Inclusive Capitalism for a Just Transition
  • Financing Innovation and Technology for Real-World Impact
  • Collective Action for a Sustainable Legacy

The competition seeks visual stories that highlight both the challenges and solutions associated with climate change, sustainability, biodiversity conservation, technological innovation, and social equity.

Categories and Requirements

The competition includes two categories:

Illustration Category

  • Up to three entries per participant
  • A3 format (297 × 420 mm)
  • Colour artwork only
  • JPG format, minimum 300 dpi
  • Maximum file size: 10 MB
  • AI-generated images, photographs, and clip art are not permitted

Animated Video Category

  • Up to three entries per participant
  • Duration between 10 and 15 seconds
  • Vertical (9:16) or square (1:1) format
  • MP4 or MOV format
  • Maximum file size: 30 MB
  • Voiceovers are not allowed

Each submission must be accompanied by a short description of between 30 and 100 words.

Awards

The competition offers cash prizes in both categories.

Illustration Category

  • Champion — €2,000
  • 1st Runner-up — €1,500
  • 2nd Runner-up — €1,000
  • 20 Merit Awards — €150 each

Animated Video Category

  • Champion — €2,000
  • 1st Runner-up — €1,500
  • 2nd Runner-up — €1,000

All winners will receive electronic certificates, and selected works will be showcased in a virtual exhibition.

Eligibility and Deadline

The competition is open worldwide to anyone aged 18 or above as of 17 May 2026. Participation is completely free of charge.

Entries can be submitted from 18 May 2026 until 31 July 2026, while the winners will be announced by 30 September 2026.

As climate change continues to shape the future of communities, economies, and ecosystems around the globe, Art on Climate 2026 offers artists an opportunity to contribute their creative voices to an international dialogue focused on sustainability, innovation, and environmental responsibility.

How to Participate

Artists interested in participating can submit up to three illustrations and three animated videos through the official competition platform. All submitted works must be original, unpublished, and not previously awarded in any other competition.

The competition provides an excellent opportunity for both emerging and professional artists to gain international exposure while contributing to global conversations about climate action and sustainability.
