Romania Opens Entries for the 36th “Smiling City” International Cartoon Contest
Cartoonists from around the world are invited to participate in the 36th edition of the “Smiling City” International Cartoon Contest, organized by the Municipality of Gura Humorului, Romania, as part of the renowned International Festival of Satirical Graphics and Humorous Literature “Umor la… Gura Humorului.”
The competition continues its long-standing tradition of celebrating humor, creativity, and visual satire through original cartoon art.
Theme: “Smiling City”
Participants are required to submit one satirical graphic work inspired by the theme “Smiling City.” The organizers emphasize that submitted cartoons must have been created after January 1, 2026, and must not have been previously published or awarded in any other competition.
The contest offers a Special Prize of €150 for the selected winning entry.

Important Notice
Submitted works will become part of the heritage collection of the International Festival of Satirical Graphics and Humorous Literature “Umor la… Gura Humorului.” According to the regulations, artworks will not be returned to participants, and the organizers reserve the right to reproduce and use them in future publications and promotional materials related to the festival.
