First Tlatelolco International Caricature Biennial Opens for Entries in Mexico

The 1st Tlatelolco International Caricature Biennial in Mexico is open for entries under the theme “A New World Order.”

Entries are open for the 1st Tlatelolco International Caricature Biennial in Mexico, organized by the Tlatelolco University Cultural Center (CCUT) in collaboration with CartónClub. The theme of the inaugural edition is “A New World Order.”

The international call is open to political cartoonists, illustrators, visual artists and graphic creators aged 18 and over. CCUT is part of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and the biennial is supported by the French and German embassies in Mexico and the Goethe-Institut Mexiko.

Key Eligibility Requirement Submitted works must already have been published or publicly shown.

Eligible works must have appeared between January 1 and September 7, 2026 in a newspaper, magazine, website, blog, digital publication, public social media account or cartoon platform, or have been presented in a physical or online exhibition. The date of publication or exhibition must be verifiable.

Works created only for the biennial and not previously published or shown are therefore not eligible.

Artificial Intelligence

The call rules out the use of artificial intelligence. Works created or modified using AI will not be accepted.

Participation

Entry Requirements

The call is international and open to participants aged 18 and over.

Each artist may submit a maximum of two works.

Artwork must be supplied as a high-resolution JPG at 300 dpi in CMYK format.

Entries must be submitted by email.

Applicants are asked to include personal information, a short biography and a photograph.

Documentation showing where the submitted work was previously published or exhibited must also be included.

Exhibition

110 Works to Be Selected

The jury will select 110 works for an exhibition at the Tlatelolco University Cultural Center in Mexico City from October 24, 2026 to January 30, 2027.

The organizers say results will be published through their official channels no later than September 20, 2026. The First and Second Prize winners will be publicly announced at the exhibition opening on October 24.
