Nominations are open for the 2026 Humor Sapiens International Award, an annual prize recognizing contributions to the study, research and promotion of humor.

Organized by Humor Sapiens, the award is intended for people whose work has helped deepen the understanding of humor through research, teaching, criticism, creative work or cultural activity.

The 2026 call invites nominations from the international humor community. Each proposal should include the candidate’s name, a brief biography or professional profile, and an explanation of why the person should be considered for the award.

Nominations must be sent to boletin@humorsapiens.com by October 10, 2026.

The Humor Sapiens committee will review the nominations received and may also consider candidates proposed directly by the organization. The recipient will receive a trophy and an honorary diploma.

The Humor Sapiens website was launched in 2013 as part of a wider cultural project devoted to the study and promotion of humor. Its work covers humor theory and research, graphic humor, literature and other cultural fields connected with satire and comedy.

The International Humor Sapiens Award was launched in 2025. Its inaugural edition received 105 nominations from 33 countries.

Portuguese historian, curator and graphic humor researcher Osvaldo Macedo de Sousa received the 2025 Outstanding Individual award, while Spain’s Quevedo Institute of the Arts of Humor, part of the General Foundation of the University of Alcalá, was named Outstanding Institution.

The second edition continues the award’s focus on people and organizations whose work has contributed to the serious study, preservation and cultural understanding of humor.
