The world of satire and caricature returns to the historic city of Brăila! The XXIst International Cartoon Contest 2026has officially opened its doors to artists worldwide. Organised by the Brăila County Center for the Preservation and Promotion of Traditional Culture, this prestigious salon continues its legacy of celebrating artistic wit and sharp observation.

2026 Theme: “World Personalities”

The XXIst edition challenges artists to interpret “World Personalities”. From historical icons and political leaders to modern celebrities and cultural influencers, the canvas is yours to satirise, celebrate, or critique the figures who shape our global narrative.

The Timeline: Mark Your Calendars

• Submission Period: February 10, 2026 – July 10, 2026 (24:00 Romanian local time).
• Judging Process: July 15 – July 31, 2026.
• Award Ceremony & Exhibition Opening: October 2026.

Prizes and Recognition

The contest offers a total prize fund of over 3,500 EURO, distributed as follows:

• The GRAND Prize: 1,000 EURO
• First Prize: 700 EURO
• Second Prize: 500 EURO
• Third Prize: 400 EURO
• Special Prizes (3): 200 EURO each

Note: Prizes are subject to Romanian tax laws and will be paid in RON at the exchange rate of the National Bank of Romania.

Technical Conditions & Submission Rules

To ensure your entry is accepted, please follow these official guidelines:

1. Quantity: Maximum of 3 works per artist.
2. Originality: Works must be original. Each entry must be accompanied by a brief biography, photo, address, and phone number.
3. Format: Electronic format (JPG), 300 dpi resolution, CMYK colour mode.
4. Naming Convention: Each file must contain the Author’s Name and the Title of the Work.
5. Submission Email: Send your entries to cartooncontestbraila@gmail.com.

For the Winners: The “Original” Requirement

If you are selected as a winner, you must send the physical original work (signed on the back) within 45 days of the announcement to the following address:
