11th International Cartoon Contest ‘De Geus’ – Belgium 2026

The cultural association ‘De Geus’, in collaboration with the cultural department and the library of Lebbeke, is proud to announce the 11th edition of its biennial international cartoon competition. Open to artists worldwide, this contest continues to be a prestigious platform for visual humor and social commentary.

🎨 Theme: “Active Seniors”

The 2026 theme focuses on “Active Seniors.” This should be interpreted as seniors who remain vibrantly engaged in life—whether through sports, creative hobbies, traveling, or other forms of active leisure. Artists are encouraged to explore this demographic’s energy and spirit through a humorous lens.


🏆 Prizes

The independent jury will award three main cash prizes:

  • 1st Prize: €1,000 🥇
  • 2nd Prize: €500 🥈
  • 3rd Prize: €250 🥉

📋 Participation Rules & Guidelines

To ensure a fair and high-quality competition, the following rules apply:

  • Eligibility: Open to all cartoonists aged 18 and over.
  • Quantity: A maximum of 3 cartoons per participant.
  • Format: Digital entries must be A4 format300 dpi, and no larger than 3 MB per file.
  • Technique: All graphic techniques are welcome, but no text is allowed in the cartoons.
  • AI Policy: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is strictly prohibited. Any winning entry found to be AI-generated will have its award revoked.
  • Originality: Works must not have won prior awards or been published in Belgium.

📅 Important Dates

  • Submission Deadline: August 15, 2026.
  • Award Ceremony: October 24, 2026, at the ‘De Fontein’ gallery.
  • Exhibition: Selected works will be exhibited on Oct 24, 25, 31, and Nov 1, 7, 8, 2026.
