Long-running British comics news website downthetubes has renewed its public fundraising campaign to help cover rising hosting costs and preserve more than 25 years of independent comics journalism. Founded in 1998 by John Freeman, the site remains one of the UK’s leading independent comics news platforms, supported largely by volunteer contributors and its dedicated readership.

The New York Comics & Picture-story Symposium has announced its Fall 2026 season, featuring a new series of free online talks by internationally recognized cartoonists, comics creators, historians, scholars and visual storytellers. Running from September 1 to December 7, 2026, the program includes presentations by Roman Muradov, Paul Tumey, Georg Barber (ATAK), Bronwyn Carlton and many other leading figures in comics and visual culture. Participation is free with advance registration by email.
