The British Art Prize 2026 Opens for Entries with £10,000+ Prize Fund and London Exhibition

The British Art Prize 2026 has officially opened for submissions, inviting artists from around the world to showcase their original artworks in one of the United Kingdom’s most prestigious annual art competitions. Organised by Artists & Illustrators through ArtOpps by Parker Harris, the competition offers more than £10,000 in prizes, a solo exhibition in London, publication opportunities, and the chance to exhibit at the renowned OXO Gallery.

Open to amateur, emerging and professional artists alike, the competition welcomes a wide variety of artistic styles and techniques while maintaining a strong emphasis on originality and artistic excellence.

International Opportunity for Contemporary Artists

The British Art Prize is open to artists worldwide regardless of nationality, artistic background or professional experience. Whether participants are exhibiting for the first time or have an established career, the organisers encourage submissions from every level of artistic practice.

Accepted media include:

  • Drawing
  • Printmaking
  • Textile art
  • Mixed media
  • Collaborative artworks

However, all submitted works must be original, and artists must own all intellectual property rights to their artwork.

One of the competition’s strictest rules is that artworks created using artificial intelligence (AI) are not eligible. The organisers clearly state that AI-generated works will not be considered during judging.

Artists may submit up to 20 artworks.

Each submitted work must:

  • Be available for exhibition if shortlisted
  • Not exceed 275 cm × 275 cm including its frame
  • Project no more than 50 cm from the wall
  • Not be a giclée reproduction or reproduction of work created in another medium

The first stage of judging is conducted digitally, requiring artists to upload high-quality images of their works through the online submission system.

Entry Fees

The submission fees are:

  • £24 for the first artwork
  • £19 for each additional artwork

Artists can manage their submissions through the ArtOpps online platform after completing registration.
