Pulitzer-Winning Cartoonist David Horsey to Discuss New Novel at Edmonds Author Talk
Two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning American political cartoonist and author David Horsey will meet readers during the upcoming “Edmonds Author Talk” event, where he will discuss his acclaimed new novel Beach of Stars.
The event will take place on May 28, 2026, at the Edmonds Waterfront Center. During the evening, Horsey will speak about the inspiration behind his latest novel and answer questions from attendees.
Published in December 2025, Beach of Stars tells the story of a college student working a summer job in Mexico whose simple act of bringing a beer to a young woman on a secluded beach triggers a chain of events that resurfaces twenty years later, pulling him away from his political career and into a search for the now-fugitive woman.
Widely regarded as one of the most influential editorial cartoonists in the United States, David Horsey has worked for major publications including The Seattle Times, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and Los Angeles Times. His work is syndicated by Tribune Content Agency.
Horsey received Pulitzer Prizes for Editorial Cartooning in 1999 and 2003 and was also a Pulitzer finalist in 1987 and 2014. In addition, he earned the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award in 2014 for his cartoons addressing social justice issues.
Alongside his cartooning career, Horsey has published several books, including Refuge of Scoundrels (2013), Top of the Ticket (2016), Drawing Apart (2020), and Unhinged USA (2024).
Doors for the event will open at 6:00 p.m., with the program beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event is co-sponsored by the Edmonds Waterfront Center, My Neighborhood News Group, and Edmonds Bookshop.
Tickets are priced at $7.50 per person, and online ticket sales will close at 4:00 p.m. on the day of the event.
