The organizers of the 11th International Cartoon Festival Kolašin 2026 have officially announced the call for entries, inviting cartoonists and caricature artists from around the world to participate in one of Montenegro’s most established international cartoon events.
The festival will be held in the mountain town of Kolašin, bringing together artists through two different competition categories that celebrate both the spirit of nature and the legacy of an important Montenegrin artist.
Main Theme: Mountain Tourism
The first category focuses on Mountain Tourism, exploring life in the mountains throughout all four seasons. Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme through activities such as skiing, hiking, rafting, cycling, horseback riding, wild berry picking, mountain villages, rivers, lakes, healthy food, and outdoor lifestyles.
Portrait Caricature: Miodrag Dado Djurić
The second category is dedicated to Miodrag Dado Djurić, the renowned Montenegrin painter who spent much of his artistic career in Paris and became an internationally recognized figure in contemporary art.
Participants may submit one work for each topic, with a maximum of two entries in total. Each artwork must include the artist’s name, country, and serial number.
The competition is open to all techniques and sizes, giving artists complete creative freedom.
Awards
The festival offers cash prizes for the Mountain Tourism category:
- 🥇 First Prize: €1,000, trophy, diploma and T-shirt
- 🥈 Second Prize: €500, trophy, diploma and T-shirt
- 🥉 Third Prize: €300, trophy, diploma and T-shirt
For the Portrait Caricature category:
- 🏅 Best Portrait Award: €400, trophy, diploma and T-shirt
In addition, five Special Awards will be presented in the form of Salon Diplomas for both categories.
Winners will be required to send or personally deliver their original artworks for the awards ceremony.
