XI International Cartoon Festival “Smile of the Sea – 2026” Opens for Entries
The organizers of the XI International Cartoon Festival “Smile of the Sea – 2026” have officially announced the launch of this year’s competition, inviting cartoonists from around the world to participate in one of Russia’s long-running international cartoon events.
Organized by the Novorossiysk Branch of the Union of Journalists of Russia, the festival welcomes artists of all age groups and encourages creative interpretations of two contemporary themes: Family Values and Office Romance.
Themes
Participants may submit cartoons related to one of the following topics:
- Family Values
- Office Romance
The competition seeks original visual humor and artistic creativity while promoting the universal language of cartoon art.
Participation Rules
The festival is open to cartoonists from all countries and age groups.
- Maximum of 10 cartoons per participant
- Cartoons that have previously won awards in other competitions are not accepted
- Works created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) are not accepted
- Cartoons must be original and unpublished in award-winning competitions
Technical Requirements
Participants must submit their works according to the following specifications:
- Format: A4 (210 × 297 mm) or A3 (297 × 420 mm)
- File format: JPEG
- Resolution: 300 dpi
- Technique: Free
- Black-and-white and color cartoons are accepted
- Cartoons must not contain any text
Required Information
Each participant must submit:
- Full name
- Age
- Postal address (including country of residence)
- E-mail address
- A recent photograph (separate file)
- A short autobiography in English (separate file)
Submission Procedure
Entries must be sent exclusively by e-mail.
Participants are required to write:
“For the competition”
in the subject line of their e-mail.

Awards
The organizers have announced that:
- Prize-winning authors will receive electronic diplomas and certificates
- All participants will receive the festival catalog in digital format
No monetary prizes have been announced for the 2026 edition.
Jury
The members of the international jury have not yet been announced.
Copyright and Usage Rights
By participating in the competition, authors grant the organizers the right to use submitted works for exhibition, informational, promotional, and festival-related purposes. The cartoons may also be used in activities aimed at promoting caricature art and the “Smile of the Sea” Festival.
