18th OSKARfest International Cartoon Exhibition Opens in Croatia
The 18th International Cartoon Exhibition – OSKARfest has officially opened at the Community Center in Osor, Croatia, welcoming visitors with this year’s theme, “Celebration on a Desert Island.” The exhibition once again brings together cartoonists from around the world, presenting a rich selection of contemporary satirical art.
A total of 179 cartoonists from 47 countries are taking part in this year’s exhibition, reflecting the international reputation that OSKARfest has built since its establishment. The event offers visitors an opportunity to explore a wide range of humorous, critical, and imaginative interpretations of the festival’s theme.
One of the distinctive features of OSKARfest is its Audience Award. Visitors are invited to vote for their favorite cartoons throughout the exhibition. Participants in the voting also have the chance to win special prizes offered by the organizers.
Alongside the main competition, the festival also features a special exhibition dedicated to the winners of the previous edition. This year’s accompanying exhibition showcases works by:
- Mladen Oljača (Serbia)
- Tao Liu (China)
- Tin Horvat (Croatia)
The exhibition also pays tribute to the late Croatian cartoonist Damir Novak (1960–2026) through a touching In Memoriam display. Novak had been a participant and close friend of OSKARfest since its first edition in 2008 and won the festival’s 4th edition in 2011. His contribution to the international cartoon community is honored with a dedicated memorial exhibition.
