Farewell to the Anatolian Cartoonists Association: The End of an Era

The Anatolian Cartoonists Association, which made significant contributions to the world of art, officially ceased its operations following the decision made during its 7th Ordinary General Assembly Meeting held on December 21, 2024. This decision has deeply affected those who are passionate about cartooning and the cultural community that the association has been part of for many years.

Founded in 2007 in Bursa, the association served as a hub for Turkish and international cartoonists for 18 years, promoting and supporting the art of cartooning. However, as with all good things, this journey had to come to an end.

In its official announcement, the Board of Directors stated that all legal procedures had been completed, and the association’s bank and postal accounts were closed. The remaining treasury balance of 2,175 Turkish Lira and 10 kuruş was donated to the Leukemia Foundation for Children (LÖSEV), fulfilling its commitment to social responsibility in a meaningful way.

Gratitude and Farewell

The announcement also included a heartfelt message of gratitude to everyone who contributed to the association’s success over the years:

“We extend our deepest thanks to all members of the Board of Directors and volunteers who served from the foundation to the closure of our association,
to all companies, institutions, organizations, and their employees who supported us,
and to all cartoonists and art enthusiasts who contributed to and supported the art of cartooning.”

This message highlights that the association was not just an organization but a vital part of the cartooning community, with everyone involved playing a crucial role in its legacy.

Hope for the Future

While the association’s journey has come to an end, the statement also expressed optimism for the future:

“We firmly believe that the spirit of solidarity carried out in the name of the art of cartooning will continue in other fields.”

This sentiment suggests that the closure of the Anatolian Cartoonists Association is not just an end but also a new beginning. The unifying power of art and its creative potential will undoubtedly find new platforms and initiatives to thrive.

Public Announcement

The Board of Directors issued an important reminder to the public regarding authority and responsibilities after the association’s dissolution:

“We hereby announce that following the dissolution of the Anatolian Cartoonists Association, no individual or entity is authorized to carry out any transactions on behalf of the association. In such cases, neither the former Board of Directors nor any other individuals shall bear any responsibility.”

This clarification underscores the importance of vigilance against any unauthorized actions in the name of the association.

Closing Words

The legacy of the Anatolian Cartoonists Association will continue to inspire those passionate about the art of cartooning. This farewell is not just a goodbye but also a tribute to the past and a hopeful look towards the future.

May the spirit of solidarity and creativity that defined the association live on forever.
