Grand International Caricature Prize “Málaga Grenet” 2026: Walt Disney Theme Announced
The city of Arequipa, Peru—a historic birthplace of outstanding caricaturists—once again takes center stage in the global art world. The Centro Cultural Peruano Norteamericano, with the sponsorship of Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde and the support of Universidad Católica Santa María, Grupo Roberts, and Uhuhu, has officially announced the fourth edition of the international competition: “Gran Premio de Caricatura Málaga Grenet 2026.”
This prestigious contest seeks to revalue the art of physiognomic portrait caricature, aiming to elevate the genre to the category of a work of art by humorously exaggerating distinctive features while preserving the subject’s essence.
2026 Theme: Walt Disney
The subject for this edition is the American pioneer of animation, Walt Disney (1901–1966). As the creator of Mickey Mouse and founder of an entertainment empire, Disney’s iconic features provide a unique challenge for artists worldwide to showcase their talent in capturing personality through satire.
