Calling all cartoonists and illustrators! One of Belgium’s most prestigious international cartoon contests, the 38th Olense Kartoenale, has officially unveiled its themes for 2026. If you are ready to showcase your wit and artistic talent on a global stage, it is time to sharpen your pencils and brainstorm.
Double the Creativity: The 2026 Themes
This year, participants are invited to explore two distinct and powerful subjects:
- Main Theme: “The Universe” – From the mysteries of deep space and black holes to the philosophical question of our place in the cosmos, “The Universe” offers a limitless playground for satirical and imaginative interpretation.
- Special Theme (Amnesty International): “Right to Freedom of Expression” – In collaboration with Amnesty International, this category challenges artists to depict the vital importance of speaking one’s truth, the struggle against censorship, and the power of the human voice.
