OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUÉ: 4th International Cartoon Biennale “Niko Nikolla”
Albanian Excellence has officially announced the organization of the 4th International Cartoon Biennale “Niko Nikolla,” set to take place in Korça, Albania, from October 30 to November 1, 2026. This prestigious event invites cartoonists worldwide to explore duality and artistic legacy through the lens of satire.
Themes of the 2026 Edition
1. ANGEL OR DEVIL? An ancient inquiry into the human condition. This theme explores the constant tension between appearance and reality in every choice, system, and public figure. Artists are encouraged to look beyond the surface to reveal irony and hidden truths.
2. PORTRAIT: BUJAR KAPEXHIU Dedicated to the iconic Albanian director, actor, and caricaturist who created the country’s first animated film. This category honors Kapexhiu as an artist who remained free in thought and art despite the pressures of a restrictive regime.
Biennale Awards
The following prizes will be awarded for each of the two main themes:
- First Prize: €1,000
- Second Prize: €500
- Third Prize: €300
- Fourth Prize: €200
- Fifth Prize: €100
Special Recognition: The “Nikolla Family Award” – €500.
Participation Criteria
- Submission Limit: Up to 4 works per theme.
- Originality: Only original works are accepted.
- No AI: AI-generated works are strictly prohibited.
- Technical Specs: JPG or PNG format, 300 dpi.
- Rights: By participating, authors grant the Biennale non-commercial rights for exhibition, publication, and promotional purposes.
