Winners of the National Cartoon Competition in India Announced
The results of the All-India Cartoon Contest “Now For Climate” have been officially announced in India. Organized by Cartoon Watch in collaboration with the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board, the competition was held to mark World Environment Day 2026 and attracted cartoonists from across the country.
According to Cartoon Watch editor Triambak Sharma, artists of all ages participated in the contest, presenting powerful visual commentaries on climate change, global warming, environmental degradation, and the impact of human activities on nature. Many entries depicted a planet threatened by rising temperatures, while others explored themes such as war, energy consumption, and society’s increasing dependence on air-conditioning systems.
The competition highlighted the growing role of cartoon art in raising awareness about environmental challenges and encouraging public dialogue on climate action.
First Prize Winners
The first prize of ₹10,000 was shared by two artists:
- Manoj Chopra (Jammu)
- S. V. Ramana (Hyderabad)
Second Prize Winners
The second prize of ₹7,000 was awarded jointly to:
- Varchasvi (Hyderabad)
- Debashish (Odisha)
Third Prize Winners
The third prize of ₹5,000 was shared by:
- Anoop (Kerala)
- Colonel Ramesh (Raipur)
Special Prize Winners
Twenty cartoonists received Special Prizes of ₹1,000 each:
Vijay Musale (Kolhapur), V. Nagaraj (Telangana), Umesh Charole (Nagpur), Khalil Khan (Pune), Gopinath (Pune), Raghupati (Bengaluru), N. Dheeraja (Hyderabad), Nirjhar Som (Delhi), Nitin Bangale (Mumbai), Bachi (Hyderabad), Pendela (Hyderabad), K. K. Valluri (Hyderabad), Ram Sheshu (Nellore), Shailesh Ujare (Karnataka), Kashyap (Visakhapatnam), Shabbir (Hyderabad), Viraj (Jammu), Smita Kamath (Goa), Yogesh Shettigar (Hyderabad) and Jai Gupta (Hyderabad).
The “Now For Climate” contest once again demonstrated how editorial cartooning can effectively communicate urgent environmental issues through creativity, humor, and visual storytelling.
