Burlington’s BCA Center Hosts Exhibition Reimagining Figurative Art
Essential Figure on display at the BCA Center in Burlington, Vermont, challenges traditional notions of figurative art through a diverse range of sculptures and installations. The exhibition showcases the work of 10 regional artists who explore the human form in innovative and thought-provoking ways.
Jennifer McCandless, a Burlington-based artist, is one of the featured exhibitors. Her ceramic sculptures are reminiscent of 19th-century cartoons, with exaggerated features and playful poses. McCandless’ work often humorously subverts traditional notions of beauty and femininity.
Another artist in the exhibition is Melissa Verplank, who creates intricate wire sculptures that capture the essence of the human figure. Verplank’s work is often inspired by nature, and her sculptures often incorporate organic forms and textures.
The Essential Figure exhibition is a must-see for anyone interested in contemporary art. The show’s diverse range of perspectives offers a fresh take on the human form, and the artists’ innovative techniques are sure to impress and inspire.
The exhibition is on view through July 28, 2024, at the BCA Center in Burlington, Vermont.
