6th International Cartoon Salon on Organ Donation: Brazil 2026 – Call for Entries!
The GABRIEL Institute, a Brazilian non-profit organization with over 25 years of dedication to raising awareness about organ and tissue donation, has officially opened registrations for its 6th International Humor Salon.
This prestigious event invites graphic artists from across the globe to use the universal language of humor to spark dialogue and foster a culture of life-saving solidarity.
📅 Important Dates
- Registration Period: May 4, 2026 – July 31, 2026 (Until 23:59 Brasília time)
- Pre-Selection: August 3 – August 7, 2026
- Announcement of Finalists: August 12, 2026
- Award Jury Evaluation: August 17 – September 20, 2026
- Virtual Exhibition & Online Awards: October 14–15, 2026
- Physical Opening Ceremony: October 21, 2026 (Indaiatuba-SP, Brazil)
🎨 Categories and Themes
The Salon is divided into three distinct categories:
- Cartoon: Focuses on the theme of “Organ Donation.” Artists must avoid puns involving musical instruments or reproductive organs and ensure the work does not stigmatize patients or specific groups.
- Charge (Editorial Cartoon): Critical and humorous graphic representations of social or political facts related to organ transplantation.
- Caricature (Valdir de Carvalho Special Prize): This year, the Salon honors two medical pioneers:
- Dr. Joseph Murray: The Nobel Prize winner who performed the first successful human kidney transplant in 1954.
- Dr. Emil Sabbaga: A pioneer of clinical transplant coordination in Brazil.
💰 Awards & Recognition
A total prize pool of R$ 4,500.00 (Brazilian Reals) will be awarded:

📝 Participation Guidelines
- Eligibility: Open to all professional and amateur artists aged 18 and older. Registration is free.
- No AI Policy: Works produced fully or partially using Artificial Intelligence will NOT be accepted.
- Technical Specs: Submissions must be A4 size, 300 dpi, CMYK mode, in JPG or PNG format (Max file size 10 MB).
- Quantity: Up to 5 original works per category (maximum of 15 works per artist).
- Copyright: Awarded works become the property of the GABRIEL Institute for awareness and promotional purposes, while moral rights remain with the authors.
