National Cartoon Exhibition in Kochi: A Celebration of Art and Solidarity
Kochi is all set to host a vibrant national cartoon exhibition from August 21 to 25, an event that promises to be a creative feast for art lovers. Organized by the Kerala Cartoon Academy in collaboration with the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi and the Chavara Cultural Centre, this exhibition will bring together some of the finest cartoonists from across the country.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on August 21 at the historic Durbar Hall by none other than Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman S. Somanath, who is also a talented cartoonist. His presence will add a special charm to the event, as he will be honored with an honorary membership of the Kerala Cartoon Academy during the inaugural function.
In addition to the main exhibition, a unique ‘Caricature Challenge’ will be held near the High Court premises on August 22 and 23. This event, organized in association with the Academy for Advanced Legal Studies and Training, aims to show solidarity with the victims of the Wayanad landslides. The proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund, ensuring that art serves a noble cause.
On August 24, the exhibition will feature ‘Cartoon Kalari,’ an event that will be inaugurated by Agriculture Minister P. Prasad. The grand finale of the exhibition will take place on August 25, with a valedictory function inaugurated by Industries Minister P. Rajeeve.
This event is not just an exhibition but a celebration of art and a gesture of compassion towards those in need. It is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates the power of cartoons to both entertain and inspire.
